Expenses Tracker

We might have mentioned before that homesteading can be on the expensive side. That’s why you need a foolproof but simple way to track your homestead expenses.

Not only can this tracker show you how much money is going out of your homestead, but you can also track where you might be getting the best deals on the items that you need for your homestead. Tracking your expenses can also show you areas where you might be able to save money if say you have a membership or subscription service that charges monthly but isn’t being used.

Income Tracker

Without tracking your income and expenses there is no way for you to know if your homestead is profitable, breaking even, or even losing money each year. There is no way for you to find ways to improve your finances if you aren’t keeping a pretty close track of what they are.

That’s where this simple income tracker can help. Just write down the date, the item or service sold, how many were sold, and how much money you received for it. This will make seeing how much income your homestead has generated over the year a breeze, and could also be quite helpful when tax season rolls around.

That’s why you need the supplies inventory sheet included in this homesteading packet. You can print one for different areas of your homestead like your pantry, your animal feed, your garden, and more.

Once you have them printed out simply write the date, the name of the item, and how many of them you have. Just make sure to also write it down when you use something up so that your inventory list remains as accurate as possible and necessary items can be replaced before they run out completely.

Animal Tending Checklist

As you know, taking care of the animals on your homestead property is a huge responsibility, and likely a large part of your daily chores. That’s where the animal tending checklist can come in handy. Just print a sheet off for each type of animal that you have and then write down what needs to be done for them each day to care for them.

You can also use the animal tending checklist to have your children help to care for your animals as part of their chores or leave it for a caretaker if you are going to be away from the homestead for a few days.

You can use this binder to help get you started with homestead management, and you can of course add more to it as you find that you need it. Make your homestead management binder your own to fit the needs of your family, and at whatever stage your homestead might currently be at. Do you use a pen and paper homesteading binder to keep you on track? If so, are there other pages that you would recommend adding to this homesteading packet?
