Using Colloidal Silver To Treat Pneumonia In Sheep

Have you ever thought about using colloidal silver to treat pneumonia in sheep?

Our sheep recently came down with a severe case of walking pneumonia. Before we were able to figure out a real solution, we ended up losing 4 ewes from our flock.

We are not anti-chemical. In fact, we tried several chemicals from our local feed stores. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work and the sheep just kept coughing and coughing until they eventually died.

In a feat of desperation, we decided to try colloidal silver. We figured the sheep were already dying – it couldn’t hurt, right?

Right!

We began giving our sheep two doses of colloidal silver a day. We drenched each sheep one by one with a syringe of silver mixed with water.

It only took two doses for the sheep coughs to diminish. And after 5 days worth of treatment, the entire flock had returned to full health!

We continued the treatment for 14 days. We didn’t want the bacteria to get ahead of us and come back with a vengeance. But I am happy to say we ended up saving the rest of our sheep and they are happier and healthier than we have ever seen them before!

If your sheep are dealing with walking pneumonia, whether you’re anti-chemical or just haven’t found a chemical that works, I highly recommend the use of colloidal silver.

Dosing Colloidal Silver For Sheep

Dosing colloidal silver for sheep is simple.

For sheep greater than 90 pounds, we took our bottle of 500 ppm (meaning 500 nano silver or ionic silver ions per million) colloidal silver. We added 1 full dropper (roughly 1/2 a teaspoon) to 5 ml of water. Using a livestock syringe, we drenched each sheep directly by mouth with this colloidal silver solution.

For lambs I would use about half to a quarter of this dosage, depending on the exact weight of the animal. You could also just use a bottle with fewer silver nanoparticles (so 250 ppm as an example). For larger rams, you may or may not consider using a bit more.

In addition to drenching, we also attached a wire strip of pure silver (that we pulled from our soldering kit) to the inside of the sheep water trough. This ensured top-notch water cleanliness for the entire herd.

Using Colloidal Silver For Worms And Parasites In Sheep

Can colloidal silver be used for internal worms and parasites in sheep?

That’s a good question. The internet is not clear and the verdict is definitely out. However, when researching colloidal silver, it is advertised as being good against pathogens. Logic would suggest silver would have a positive effect on parasites.

The good news is using silver will prevent against antibiotic resistance so can use it again and again.

7. Colloidal silver can be used as a natural disinfectant. Spray it on doorknobs, countertops, and other surfaces to help kill germs and bacteria. You can also use it to cleanse fruits and vegetables. Just add a few drops to a bowl of water and soak your produce for a few minutes.
8. Colloidal silver can be used to treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Simply apply it to the affected area to help soothe irritation and reduce inflammation.
